This is a photo of Jean Ackerman - surprisingly hard to find any info on her at all, but I do know she was a hollywood actress in the 20s, and she used to be a Ziegfeld Girl. Very graceful and provocative, i like her.

from the may 2007 issue of vogue: natalia vodianova channeling the unforgettable styles of legendary designer paul poiret. there's a fairly good article that accompanies this shoot, too. the french fashion designer poiret is considered one of the most influential designers ever to have lived. personally, i think the look of 1920s vamp is golden. the whole image screams of a wonderful assertiveness/self-awareness and the ability to boldly tout a provocative appearance without necessarily being a tramp. 

Lillian Gish rocks my socks.

Lillian Gish was a silent screen star in the 20s, famous for her dedication to her craft...I wish I was as driven as Lilian to perform not just perfectly, but transcendentally.
