vanity fair portraits at lacma

the los angeles county museum of art (lacma) has what looks to be a very great exhibit right now featuring 150 portraits from the archives of vanity fair magazine. the show includes photos from magazine's first period (1913 - 1936) and second (1983 - present) & is the first comprehensive showing of their greatest portraits from both past and present archives. featured photographers include: cecil beaton, harry benson, julian broad, imogen cunningham, man ray, marry ellen mark, mario testino, steven meisel, herb ritts, bruce weber, annie leibovitz, edward steichen, & helmut newton. it runs until march 1, 2009 and as soon as i get back to los angeles i am going. 

YSL Show at the De Young Museum

There is an amazing show of the life work of Yves Saint Laurent going on at the de Young Museum in San Francisco....anyone living/visiting here should go, its jaw dropping.
Its on until March 1st, so I'll definately be going back! 3 hours of sketching, here I come.
